Guns and God: Growing number of churches turn to armed volunteers for security

Legality aside, guns are still not welcome in many churches. Both the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the United Methodist Church have issued statements deeming guns inappropriate for houses of worship, and the leaders of multiple Catholic archdioceses, from St. Louis to Atlanta, have spoken out against guns in their churches.
